Real Madrid vs. Girona: Match Preview & Betting Tips

Last season’s champions of Spanish La Liga, Real Madrid, are currently at the 3rd spot on the table, with just 1 point than Valencia. What this means is that in order to finish the season in a reputable position, Los Blancos need to play well. Beating Girona on Sunday evening is a must. Can do they do it? Find out in this Real Madrid vs. Girona match preview!

Real Madrid

With 15 points less than Barcelona, Real Madrid are without a chance to keep the trophy of La Liga in their possession. Their goal is the 2nd spot but even that seems pretty hard to achieve. Atletico Madrid have 7 points more than Los Blancos, who are also in danger of dropping to the 4th spot. Valencia have only 1 point less than Real, meaning that there’s no room for failure for Los Blancos.

Real Madrid simply must beat Girona on Sunday. It’s not just to collect the much-needed La Liga points but also to get ready for the Champions League. In less than two weeks, they will play the first part of the doubleheader with Juventus. Getting in a proper form before that match seems to be of huge importance.

The good news for Los Blancos is that they’ve started playing much better lately. Not only did they beat the mighty PSG in the Champions League (on 2 occasions) but they’ve also been pretty impressive in La Liga. A thing that’s really encouraging for them is that their best player, Cristiano Ronaldo, is in a fantastic form at the moment. He’s scored a total of 5 goals in the last 3 matches!

Of course, Ronaldo isn’t the only player who’s been playing great lately. Luka Modric, Lucas Vazquez, Gareth Bale, and many other Real Madrid players have been pretty impressive in the last couple of weeks.

Girona

Girona are flying pretty high at the moment. With 43 points after 28 rounds, they’re on the 7th place on La Liga table, with a really good chance of going upwards in the near future. Villarreal, a team that’s in a spot that leads to the Europa League, has only 1 point more than Girona. Sevilla, who are currently in the 5th place, have just 2 points more.

Obviously, considering all the facts, Girona will be super-motivated to win at least a point in Sunday’s match. But, do they have the quality to achieve such a feat? Well, they do have a couple of extremely talented players who are playing very well lately. Cristhian Stuani is definitely one of them, a player who’s currently the 6th-best scorer in La Liga with 15 goals to his name.

Stuani and his teammates have been playing very well lately, winning 4 out of 5 previous matches. Unfortunately, it seems that this team generally doesn’t do well when faced with top sides. For instance, a few rounds ago, Barcelona thrashed them 6:1.

Another fact that goes out of favor of Girona is that their away stats are pretty disappointing. This team won only 1 away game this year. The game in question was the one against Villarreal, which they played in the beginning of March.

Real Madrid vs. Girona Match Prediction

I have no doubt that Real Madrid will win this game. They play in front of their own crowd, where they’ve always been sensational. So, you can assume that they’ll be attacking throughout the game. My betting advice is to go with a big win for Los Blancos.
